Radio Geolocation
Technologies
The location and tracking of people or critical assets requires a tagging device that
is small, inexpensive, and useful in urban situations. Power consumption should be
low, and it should be possible to locate the device in a wide area with a high degree
of accuracy. Location information should be instantly available to the user through
an on-screen map.
Radio geolocation technologies is an accurate and economical system that pinpoints
location with a novel signal-processing algorithm, using signals received from a small,
low-power, transmitting tag. It uses little frequency spectrum and can overlay existing
mobile cellular channels. The receiving stations are inexpensive and can provide wide-area
location coverage through integration with existing cellular base stations. A stand-alone
version of the base station also exists. The patented method for locating the tagging
signal features higher accuracy than conventional triangulation methods, less sensitivity
to multipath and fading, and low operating costs.

Central Command Center becomes the focal
point and one-stop center for standard and quality services including utilities, transportation,
community and other intelligent services. It acts as the nerve center providing services
among inter agencies such as the utility and service providers, the travelers, commercial
or residential community.
CCC also acts as a central monitoring hub through which all services in the center
are integrated, managed and monitored.

3.
Wireless Real Time Data Radio
In a SCADA system environment,
Wireless Real Time Data Radio Network typically running a half duplex
at speed of 1,200 bps up to 19,200 bps. System consists of Master Stations,
Repeater Stations and thousands of RTU stations nationwide running
on various industries standard protocols such as IEC 101, DNP3, Wisp++, Talus etc.
Wireless Real Time Data Radio network can further be divided into:
-
Master and Repeater Stations
Master Stations is normally located at Central and Regional Control Centres.
The Master Stations are the last stations where data are collected via
Wireless Real Time Data Radio before it is channeled
to the SCADA system concentrator or multiplexer unit.
Repeater Stations are required in order to extend the coverage of the radio
or to provide redundancy in the system.
Master Station can communicate with a Repeater Stations
on a full duplex transmission, while with the Customer Premise
Wireless Radio Modem on a half duplex transmission.
Both Master and Repeater Stations are subjected to Apparatus Assignment license
from Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission.
-
Customer Premise Wireless Radio Modem
Customer Premise Wireless Radio Modem is normally installed at the location
of the customer’s devices such as RTU, Power Quality, Disturbance Recorder,
Energy Meters etc. Communication between Wireless Radio Modem
and customer’s devices is normally via Serial Connection.
In typical SCADA requirements, the number of Wireless Radio Modem
will be dependant on the number of RTU sub stations being installed;
hence quantities can reach into thousands. Wireless Radio Modem
is not subjected to Apparatus Assignment license
from Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission.
-
Network Control Centre
Network Control Centre is important to ensure Wireless Data Radio 24 x 7 operations
is running smoothly and not interrupted. A well design Network Control Centre
will comprises with ergonomic operator workstations and Wall Display.
This center will normally be equipped with communication equipment
to collect and disseminate data from the systems to the end users,
voice communications infrastructure and other messaging devices
such as SMS, pager or e-mail facilities.

4.
Security and Command and Control Solutions
Security and Command and Control Center become the focal point and priority areas
in many high profile organizations and facilities. In the wake of international terrorist
attacks worldwide, organizations are starting to protect their assets and facilities
by implementing many security solutions currently available. Among the popular technology
are Microwave, Infra Red and Cable detection systems.
Security and Command and Control solutions can further be divided into:
-
Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems
There are many technologies available for Perimeter Intrusion Detection System.
Among them are:
-
Microwave
-
Infra Red
-
Detection Cable
-
CCTV
Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems are normally designed either
at the external part (close to the fencing line) of a complex or facilities,
Roof Top or even inside behind a physical wall, doors etc.
-
Card Access Systems
Card Access System is normally installed at the following doors:
-
Main entrance and Exit
-
High security rooms
-
Special purpose rooms
-
CCTV Systems
In order to compliment Perimeter Intrusion Detection System,
CCTV is normally installed to provide real time video images
of the events and also for recording purposes. CCTV system
will be configured with both day and night cameras.
-
Contactless Identification Systems
Contactless Identification Systems is critical in order to identify authorized personnel,
contractors, general workers and also general public that will be coming in
and out of a building or facilities. Contactless Identification Systems
can also be integrated with Card Access Systems.
-
Car Park and Barrier Gate Systems
Car Park and Barrier Gate Systems is used in order to provide vehicle access
to authorized personnel, contractors, general workers and
also general public that will be coming in and out of a building
or facilities parking areas. Car Park and Barrier Gate Systems
can also be integrated with Card Access Systems.
-
Intercom / PABX Systems
Intercom / PABX system is required for large building / facilities.
This is to enable Control Centre operators to communicate
to the users within the building / facilities or to communicate to external users.
-
Command and Control Integrated Management Software
Command and Control Integrated Management System is required to integrate the entire
sub systems installed above for better operation and information dissemination.
The system will then project relevant images or computer screens to the Wall Display
for viewing.
-
Wall Display and Wall Display Processor
Wall Display and Wall Processors are mandatory for all Command and Control Centre.
A good and well-designed Wall Display will provide good working ambiance
to the operator and ease the pressure of having to work on a 24 x 7 basis.
The bigger the Display, the more number of screens can be projected
and hence more number of events can be viewed at the same time.
A Wall Processors is required to provide multiple viewing screens
with different resolutions to be projected at the same time.
Wall Processors will also enable input sources from multiple formats
to be processed and projected on the same Display.
The following are some of the products represented or used in our projects:
Hardware (Microwave, Infra Red, Detection Cable) – Southwest Microwave
Software – Southwest Microwave, ISM
Card Access System – Castle, Elid
Variable Message Sign – Alpha, Olympex
